About Laurel Smoke -
After starting her career in magazine journalism in 1999,  editing and writing for several consumer magazines, Laurel Smoke made the transition in 2001 to trade magazines and the beauty industry as an associate editor at Modern Salon and Process magazines.  While there, she covered industry shows, wrote news and product sections and headed up two special issues of Teen Modern.


In 2003, Laurel accepted the position as editor-in-chief of Modern's sister publication, Salon Today.  In her tenure at Salon Today, Laurel led her team in a successful redesign, launched the magazines's first website and newsletters.

In 2008, Laurel also became the editor of Renew, Salon Today's sister publication on skin care for estheticians.
